Curriculum and School Programs
- School Readiness and Early Learning Program for 3-year Olds Children entering school for the first time at age 3 will have the opportunity to participate in this program. There will be a morning and an afternoon session. Students will be in school for ½ day. The hours are 8:00-11:15 a.m. and 12:00-3:15 p.m. For more information please click here.
- Early Childhood Program for 4-5 year Olds The EC program for 4-5 year olds will incorporate some Montessori methods in the instruction. The EC program is a full day from 8:00-3:15.
- Reasoning Mind Math Program…We have realized success and good gains with students in grades 2-5 this year. The Internet-based program will continue to include grade 6 next year.
- Technology Advancement…As the Reasoning Mind Math program develops the need for additional computer technology for students will be essential. Our goal for 2011-2012 is to equip two classrooms with a wireless system with laptop computers for each student.
- Basic Skills Emphasis…Throughout the school program there is a strong emphasis on reading word attack and comprehension, writing and correct grammar, general knowledge in religion, history, geography and science.
- The Differentiated Classroom where students who range from talented and gifted to those with greater challenges in learning can be motivated and successful at their own level, having their academic needs met in a meaningful environment.
- Physical Education and Health…Students participate in the FitnessGram program designed and sponsored by the Cooper Clinic in Dallas. The focus is on physical fitness, good health habits, and nutrition.
- Athletics…OLPH is a member the Dallas Parochial League (DPL). Students participate in soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball/softball.
- Uniforms…All students are required to wear the school uniform which is available through Parker Uniform Company.
- Breakfast & Lunch Program…Government subsidized free and reduced price meals for qualifying students
